July 2024 Sunday Olaniyi

The Gallery on Vine, nestled within the prestigious Rossetti Estate, is proud to announce the upcoming exhibition “Sunday Comes in July!” featuring the captivating works of multi-award-winning artist Sunday Olaniyi. This highly anticipated showcase will offer art enthusiasts a rare opportunity to experience Olaniyi’s innovative approach to contemporary visual art.

Renowned for his mastery of glass bead portraiture and abstract storytelling, Olaniyi brings a uniquely African perspective to his craft. His art delves into the intricate relationship between space, color, and texture, seamlessly blending realism with semi-abstracted human and animal forms. Through his vibrant compositions, Olaniyi invites viewers on a journey of exploration, offering glimpses into the rich tapestry of Yoruba culture and African proverbs.

Olaniyi’s artistic journey is as inspiring as his creations. Rooted in the ethos of recycled art, he transforms discarded materials into treasured masterpieces. With beads as his chosen medium, he channels his innermost thoughts and experiences, offering a profound reflection on migration, cultural identity, and the human condition. His works serve as a testament to the power of imagination, encouraging viewers to transcend personal boundaries and embrace their true selves.

Raised in the historic town of Osogbo, fondly referred to as the “land of indigo” in Osun State, Nigeria, Olaniyi’s upbringing deeply influences his artistic vision. His connection to his roots infuses his art with a sense of authenticity and reverence for tradition.

The Gallery on Vine is honored to host Olaniyi’s original masterpieces, providing a platform for emerging talent to shine. The exhibition promises to be a celebration of creativity, culture, and community, with a reception fitting of the Rossetti fashion. Guests can anticipate live music, libations, and an immersive experience that celebrates the transformative power of art.

“We are thrilled to showcase the exceptional talent of Sunday Olaniyi at the Gallery on Vine,” said Joseph Olivieri/Art Director. “His artistry transcends boundaries, inviting viewers to embark on a journey of discovery and introspection. We invite art enthusiasts from all walks of life to join us for an unforgettable evening of art and celebration.”

Behold My Art-a tapestry of emotions

A cascade of color that adorns walls like jewels, each stroke a testament to my soul.” These words, tenderly spoken by the gifted Danielle Lehtinen, herald a painter whose canvases pulsate with life. A virtuoso of acrylics and mixed media, she orchestrates vibrant symphonies upon the canvas, infusing her works with spirited splashes and rivulets of color that intimate the cosmic ballet. Critics exclaim in unison, led by the eloquent Anne Rudder: “Her drip paintings echo galactic movements, redefining the canon of abstract expression while blazing a trail uniquely hers.” The stars, oceans, and sands guide her artistic voyage, each stroke a celestial whisper, each composition a voyage through boundless galaxies. From high above the clouds, she captures the earth’s wonders, birthing her ethereal “Aerials” series that captures stars and galaxies in the embrace of her creative aura.
